Brother USB Printer Drivers

Windows XP -

Installing the Brother MFC-440CN printer driver for Windows XP:

NOTE: Do not connect the printer to your computer until the first two steps have been completed.

1. Download the software to either your desktop or to a folder that you create. The downloaded file will be “440Xpuasa.exe”.

2. Double Click the 440Xpuasa.exe. A small window “ZIP Self Decompression” will appear. Click the “Decompress(X) button. This will create a new folder “usa.”

3. Plug in the USB cable of the printer and the “Found New Hardware” wizard will begin. The wizard will ask you if you want to connect to the internet to find drivers for the new hardware select “not this time” and click NEXT.

4.Click the “Have Disk” button or “search this location” and search to either the desktop or the location where you downloaded the driver. Select the “usa” folder created in step #2.

5. Click the NEXT button to advance to the Name Your Printer dialog box. Do not change the default name; click NEXT.

6. Now you will be in the Printer Sharing dialog box. Make sure “Do Not Share” is checked and click “next.”
If you elect to print a test page, a charge will be automatically billed to your room, so it is suggested that you select “NO”.
7. Click the NEXT button to advance to the Completing the Add Printer Wizard dialog box, where you can review the settings for your new printer before you click the FINISH button
